- Updated 31 Oct 2026. Added to Gloria's tree from the 1750-51 Southampton County, Virginia, deeds and will set out by Stewart Crumpler and Garth Matthews; the family record as it stood in 1999 did not include him, and showed his son John Jr. in his place as the son of William Crumpler and Elizabeth Raiford.
Son of Captain William Crumpler. On 14 Mar 1750 he conveyed 150 acres, including his father's home plantation, to his son John Crumpler Jr., and his wife Grace relinquished her dower in court the same day (Southampton County, VA, Deed Book 1, pp 203-205). Capt. William's will of 29 Oct 1750 left that plantation to his son John (Will Book 1, pp 36-37), and on 25 Nov 1751 John Jr. sold it to William Jones (Deed Book 1, pp 341-344).
