Elijah enlisted in the Continental Army in 1775 (makes him 14 years old)as a private and drummer. He fought at Germantown, Fort Miflin, ValleyForge, Monmouth, and Stony Point. Elijah was a Fife Major in 1781 inColonel John Dunkee's regiment, in Captain Robert Warner's Company, andalso in Captain Abner Bacon's Company. Elijah served to the end of thewar.
