I was born and grew up in Hawaii. Whenever we visited San Francisco, my grandmother would always want to go and visit the grave of her mother (Rachel Morris King). As kids we never wanted to do this, and never went to the grave: kids don't like visiting graves. My grandmother would lament that once she'd died, nobody would remember where her mother, Rachel, was buried.

But my grandmother did not foresee the internet, and how it helps us to research everything -- including our ancestry. I became interested in genealogy simply because I wanted to find Rachel's grave.

I found it, and my wife and I visited it for the first time today. We brought red carnations.
