| Obituary from Middletown [New York] Daily Press, 13 Sep 1890 Girard DePeyster Saxon died at his house at 23 Myrtle Avenue, Middletown, New York on Friday (12 Sep 1890) from internal injuries resulting in "two abscesses" that "could not be made to heal."
Girard had recently been promoted to baggage master at the O&W [Ontario & Western Railroad] depot --- three months prior to his death. He attempted to board a moving train five weeks before his death, and fell to the ground. This caused problems with internal injuries he'd experienced "some time ago."
He was survived by his wife Belle C. Wood, daughter of John F. Wood, and a son --- nine weeks old.
His mother lives in San Francisco, his brother Ambrose in Monroe, and his sister, Mrs. John Frawler, lived in San Francisco but was last heard form in Chicago. |
