Charlotte Manross Chapman, 87, of Bristol, widow of Charles L. Chapman, died on Friday (November 4, 2011) at Hartford Hospital. Charlotte was born in Bristol on February 24, 1924 and was a daughter of the late Newton and Bertha (Goodsell) Manross. A lifelong Bristol resident, she graduated from Bristol High School, Mount Holyoke College, and she received her teaching degree from the Teacher's College of Connecticut (now CCSU).
She taught third grade in Bristol for 32 years at West Woods and Mountain View Schools. She was a member and two-time past regent of the Katherine Gaylord Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Bristol.
Charlotte is survived by two daughters and sons in law, the Rev. Marcia C. Eveland and Chacy Eveland of Burlington, and Ann. L. and Robert Bandera of Wickenburg, AZ; two grandchildren, Chase Ellis of Ballarat, Australia, and Jessica Schoumaker and her husband, Curtis Schoumaker, of Prescott Valley, AZ; a great grandson, Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother during World War II, Edward Manross.
Funeral services will be held on Monday (November 14 2011) at 10 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church, 851 Stafford Ave., Bristol. Burial will follow in West Cemetery, Bristol.
Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Sunday (November 13, 2011) between 4 and 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, c/o Hartford Hospital Fund Development, 80 Seymour St., PO Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06102-5037.
