    • Emigration: Pearl had come to the US from Austria in the mid 1890s and attended school in Santa Cruz, California at that time. In 1896, Max came to her and asked her to return to Austria for an arranged marriage by her family to Moritz (Morris) Gottlieb. She reluctantly complied and after her marriage to Morris, returned with him and three children in about 1906. She and Morris settled in Los Alamos from about 1907-1910, and they either participated in running the Emporium or created a separate business. Morris abandoned his family after two more children.
    • Occupation: Pearl left Los Alamos and traveled by horse and cart to Santa Cruz in about 1910. She established a small business there, and her children finished school in Santa Cruz. Unfortunately, Pearl died as a result of an infection in 1923.
    • Imigration: 11 Dec 1906; Pearl Gottleib spoke five languages when she arrived in the US.
